Coating production belongs to the fine chemical industry and has the characteristics of chemical production. In the production process, there are dangerous characteristics such as flammable, explosive, toxic and harmful.


Once the management is poor and the operation is out of control, it will cause fire, explosion, poisoning, burns and other accidents and disasters. With the rapid development of coating production, new changes have taken place in its production scale, process technology, product structure, production equipment and raw and auxiliary materials.


Therefore, we should follow the objective laws of paint production, and continue to explore and study the safety issues in paint production with a scientific attitude. To master and take necessary safety technical measures, effectively control and prevent accidents and disasters, protect the life safety and health of paint producers, ensure that the country and enterprise property are protected from losses, and promote the sustainable development of paint production.


01 Safety issues in paint production


The safety of coating production involves many factors, such as production equipment, production process, raw and auxiliary materials, operators and production environment.


Therefore, there are unsafe factors in the whole process of coating production, use, storage and transportation, mainly in the following aspects.


(1) Use of various hazardous chemicals


There are many types of hazardous chemicals used in the production of coatings, with different properties, most of which are flammable, such as various oils (tung oil, linseed oil, castor oil, etc.); there are also flammable organic solvents, such as No. 200 solvent gasoline, benzene , toluene, xylene, etc. The organic solvent vapor is mixed with air to reach its explosive concentration, which will cause an explosion immediately upon encountering a fire source. At the same time, there are also toxic substances such as benzene, toluene and toluene diisocyanate, which are easy to cause occupational poisoning. Therefore, the production of coatings is inflammable, explosive, toxic and harmful.


(2) There are many productive fire sources in the production process


At present, in the process of paint production, especially in the process of thermal smelting paint and resin synthesis, in addition to the general use of steam and heat carrier heating, there are also open fire heating, and various electric ovens and electric furnaces are also used in trial production, inspection and analysis. and other heating facilities; there are also fire sources such as electric (gas) welding during the maintenance process, which increases the risk of fire and explosion in coating production.


(3) There are many electrical equipment and the safety is poor


In the paint production site, there are many electrical equipment such as electromechanical facilities, power distribution facilities, electrical circuits, exhaust fans, switches, etc., and there are unsafe factors such as model selection and installation that do not conform to explosion-proof specifications, line aging, and poor safety. A major factor in combustion and explosion.


(4) There are many containers for storage, but the sealing is poor


There are many different sizes of paint mixing cylinders (barrels), tanks and tanks used in the production of paint, but a considerable part of the equipment is an unsealed container. Therefore, in the production site, flammable solvent vapor or dust will be emitted, which can easily cause occupational poisoning and fire or explosion hazard for personnel.


(5) Unsafe behavior of people


Due to the continuous strengthening of the technological transformation of the coating industry, the production process, equipment, operating environment, etc. have been significantly improved and improved, and the safety and reliability of coating production has been increased.


But production also depends on human mastery and control. At present, people's unsafe behaviors such as operational errors and illegal operations are still the main factors leading to accidents.


Therefore, improving the operator's awareness of prevention and safety technical knowledge, and strengthening the education and training of safe operation skills is still an important task in paint production.


(6) There are many dangerous equipment, which can easily lead to human injury


Dangerous equipment such as three-roller, double-roller, ball mill, sand mill, and high-speed mixer are often used in paint production. If not strictly operated, it will cause personal injury.


(7) The layout of paint production workshops, workshops, storage tanks, etc. is unreasonable and does not meet the specifications This is another major factor causing accidents.


02General safety precautions in coating production


(1) Paint production personnel should establish the idea of "safety first", abide by labor discipline and safety operation rules, and do not operate in violation of regulations.


(2) Before taking up the job, the operator should use the protective equipment correctly, carefully implement the shift system, and carefully check whether the equipment, materials and related safety facilities of the position are complete and intact.

(3) In the production process, it is necessary to operate carefully, and strictly implement the process operation rules and post safety operation methods.


(4) Hot smelting posts with open fire, strict control of fire sources and regulations on ignition and ceasefire.


(5) The reaction temperature of the reactor should be controlled according to the process indicators, and the temperature should be slow. During the reaction process, the operation should be checked at any time, sampling and analysis should be taken in time, and the reaction end point should be controlled to prevent fire and gelation.


(6) In the event of fire or gelation during the operation of the reactor, immediately stop heating and stirring, take corresponding fire-extinguishing measures, and cool the outside of the reactor with water. At the same time, you should call the police as soon as possible and use fire-fighting equipment to put out the fire. When the material is diluted, the dilution temperature should be controlled.


(7) During the production process of the color device, the dosing of the pigment should be light and slow, to prevent dust flying and foreign objects falling into the container, and open the ventilation and dust removal facilities.


When the sand mill is running, it is necessary to control the flow and turn on the cooling facilities to avoid excessive solvent volatilization and combustion caused by the high temperature of the paint slurry. The production site strives to achieve closed operations, and it is strictly forbidden to use organic solvents to scrub equipment, clothing, and floors. Strengthen ventilation and reduce the concentration of explosive gases. Fire retardant


(8) Wastes such as paper scraps, yarn ends, rags, gloves and other wastes generated for scrubbing and other purposes in production are not allowed to be thrown around.


(9) Smoking is strictly prohibited in the production site. Prevent static electricity and iron impact. To engage in dangerous operations such as hot work, entering containers, climbing, breaking ground, and power outage maintenance in the production site, it is necessary to strictly implement the "Safety Regulations for Chemical Enterprise Plant Area Operations".


(10) When operating dangerous equipment such as transmission (transmission), strict operating procedures and correct use of protective equipment are prohibited.


(11) During trial production, analysis and inspection, fire and electric shock must be prevented. Be careful to use all kinds of flammable, toxic and corrosive substances to prevent burning, poisoning, burns and other accidental injuries.


(12) Correctly use various special tools and fire fighting equipment.


(13) After the work is completed, clean up and inspect the equipment and tools in the production site, do a good job of sanitation, cut off water, electricity, gas (steam), materials and fire sources, close the doors and windows, and confirm that there is no error before leaving.
